Surface America

Surface America® playground surfacing. It’s where you need it, when you need it!

The main function of a playground surface is to absorb shock when a child falls. So, be sure to choose a system that is guaranteed to stay in place at the most critical areas - at the most critical times.

It’s only a matter of time for impact areas to get dished out on loose infill surfaces – even with the most aggressive and costly maintenance programs. Learn why poured-in-place is the best investment over the long haul.

Surface America playground surfacing provides consistent shock absorption - with no maintenance. IPEMA certified.

Surface America has the most complete line of playground surfacing systems in the world.

Surface America’s renowned PlayBound Poured-in-Place systems are as attractive as they are durable. From the basic one color to the elaborate design, we are available to meet your needs.

Safety First – In Every System

ASTM F-1292 is the industry’s standard test to evaluate a surfacing system’s ability to absorb shock.

In the interest of playground safety, the International Play Equipment Manufacturers Association provides a Third Party Certification service whereby an independent laboratory, Detroit Testing Laboratory, Inc. (DTL), validates a surfacing manufacturer’s certification of conformance to ASTM F1292, Standard Specification for Impact Attenuation Under and Around Playground Equipment. The use of the IPEMA Playground Surfacing Certification logo signifies that Surface America has received written validation from DTL that the products associated with the use of the logo conform with the requirements of the standard. Check the IPEMA website (http://www.ipema.org) to confirm product certification, its thickness and critical height.

When a Surface America poured or tile system is installed, wheelchairs and crutches negotiate the playground without difficulty, thus conforming to the requirements of the Americans with Disabilities Act and ASTM F-1951-99 Determination of Playground Surface Accessibility.

Surface America is an active member of the American Society for Testing Materials (ASTM) and the International Play Equipment Manufacturers Association (IPEMA).
