AmeriTile™ recreational and athletic surfacing systems are widely used in schools, parks and recreation department facilities, churches, major hotels, health clubs and for profit recreation centers.
AmeriTile offers high resiliency for player comfort and injury reduction. The surface offers traction for improved safety and performance. Modular designs enable rapid installation time and facilitate repairs. Tile application provides for ease of replacement and court portability.
Typical uses include:
• Indoor Sport - Basketball, in-line hockey, volleyball, meetings, dances, all-purpose uses
• Outdoor Sport - In-line hockey, basketball, volleyball
• Outdoor Court - Tennis, basketball, volleyball
These products are specified under various sections, depending on project application, including 02790 Athletic & Recreational Surfaces or 09622 Athletic Flooring.

5. Installation
Store materials protected from exposure to harmful environmental conditions and at a minimum temperature of 20 degrees F (-7 degrees C) and a maximum temperature of 100 degrees F (38 degrees C). Install surfacing system when minimum ambient temperature is 45 degrees F (7 degrees C) and maximum ambient temperature is 90 degrees F (32 degrees C).
Prepare substrate to provide a medium, dense finish with level tolerance of (+) or (-) 1/8" (3.2 mm) in any 10’ (3 m) radius. Ensure that substrate is free of debris before tiles are installed.
Do not proceed with tile installation until all applicable site work, including substrate preparation, drywall, plastering and other relevant work, has been completed.
Verify that substrate conditions are suitable for installation of the tile system and do not proceed with installation until unsuitable conditions are corrected.
For outdoor installations in excess of 100’ (31m) in length, the periphery of the court surface must be mechanically fastened to the base. Final trim is to be within 1/2" (12.7 mm) of any backstop or side stop under all conditions. No gaps, spaces or openings between modules are permitted. Game lines should be applied in compliance with tile and paint manufacturer’s recommendations.
Contact Surface America, Inc., for complete installation information.
The substrate must be level or uniformly sloped since variations will be telegraphed through to the tile surface. Protect the installed tile surface from damage resulting from subsequent construction activity on the site.

7. Warranty
The manufacturer agrees to replace any of its products, which are defective due to imperfect material or manufacturing which may develop within ten (10) years from date of original purchase, subject to a schedule of limitations. Contact Surface America, Inc., for more information on warranty terms.
8. Maintenance
Solid top tiles may be dust mopped or wet mopped as required. Use a water based dust mop treatment. Oil based treatments may make the floor slippery. Damp mop with a detergent solution. Rinse well after application. Cleaning in the morning, or before use, helps prevent soil from becoming ground into the material. To restore or add a glossy shine, a cleaner/wax solution may be applied. Follow label instructions on products used. A heavy-duty vacuum cleaner works well on both open grid and solid top designs.
For heavily soiled floors, an automatic scrubbing system may be employed. A soft nylon brush and neutral pH solution works best. Test a small area first to determine effectiveness and to ensure no damage to the floor.
Grid designs may be hosed or sprayed in place where drainage is present. Otherwise, the material may be taken outdoors for cleaning. A power washer will remove tough soil and will not damage the material.
If static develops, an anti-stat product or Downy» Fabric Softener solution may be applied. Use only enough to solve the problem without making floor too slippery. A maximum 50:1 water to Downy» mixture can be employed.
Hard water calcium deposits may be removed with commercially available acid based cleaners. Read and follow label instructions. Handle carefully. Rinse well.
Scuff marks and stains: No marking sole shoes or sneakers should be used on floor. Commercial window cleaners or citrus (limonene) cleaners may be used. A mild abrasive cleaner (Soft Scrub™ or similar) may be used. Read and follow label instructions. Use light pressure. Rubbing scuffmarks with the sole of a light colored sneaker (the "eraser" effect) also works.
Notice: Avoid chemical solvents such as acetone, paint thinner and the like as they may attack the base material. If these must be used, test a small area for possible damage. Rinse immediately with water. Complete maintenance recommendations are available from Surface America, Inc.
